I am a Peruvian-born artist based in London, with degrees in photography, cinematography, and architecture. This hybrid background significantly influences my artistic practice, particularly through my interest in architecture.
Growing up in Lima, a dense and unplanned city with minimal architectural coherence, I developed an appreciation for forms and patterns that often seem disconnected. I was captivated by Lima's unique aesthetic and the complexities of its urban landscape. I became intrigued by how these elements settle into our environment and how we interact with them. This relationship between humans and objects, as well as humans and space, has deeply influenced my work.
I interesting in exploring vast expanses, offering a space for profound self-reflection. I frequently use the desert as a backdrop, a place largely untouched by human activity, where one can experience a sense of purity through prolonged exposure. Additionally, I have a fascination with abandoned and disrupted landscapes. These areas reflect changes that impact our collective memory, and I aim to examine the conflicts arising from land appropriation and mass human displacement.
My work has been exhibited and published and is part of the Jan Mulder Collection.
